The voices of apprentices in the European Year of Youth 2022
A European Alliance for Apprenticeships Event in cooperation with the Directorate General for Vocational Education of the Regional Government of Catalonia, the Fundación Bertelsmann and the European Apprentices Network
Europe needs the vision, engagement and participation of all young people to build a better future, that is greener, more inclusive and digital. That is why the year 2022 has been designated as the European Year of Youth. With this initiative, the EU aims to put the spotlight on young people, the challenges they are facing and the strength they are demonstrating to overcome them, in the attempt to stimulate action from all stakeholders to support young people with more and better opportunities for the future. The scope of proposed activities will cover issues that mostly affect young people, following the priorities highlighted in the Youth Goals, such as equality and inclusion, sustainability, mental health and well-being, and quality employment.
The event organised by the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA), in collaboration with the Directorate General for Vocational Education of the Regional Government of Catalonia, the Fundación Bertelsmann and the European Apprenticeships Network (EAN), is bringing together relevant stakeholders from all over Europe to discuss the learners' roles and perspective in apprenticeships and to hear first-hard experiences of apprentices.
The main objectives are to raise awareness about the importance of apprentices’ representation in national and regional structures and discuss how to make apprenticeships more attractive for young people. Good practices from Spain and across the EU will be presented with the aim to encourage Member States, regions, social partners and youth organisations to discuss and address the issue. The renewed European Apprentices Network (EAN) will also be launched in the framework of the European Year of Youth. Furthermore, the event includes two site visits to vocational schools in Barcelona: Institut Bonanova and Institut Escola del Treball, an opportunity for relevant exchanges with local VET providers.
The event will take place in a hybrid setup with sessions taking place in Barcelona and streamed online. While registering, you will have the opportunity to choose if you wish to attend physically or joining the event remotely.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event!
